Founder Joseph Temple is an accomplished math educator and professional basketball player, with over 16 years as math teacher and administrator. Joe has also served as a Boy Scouts of America troop chairman, and and even established an English school in Taiwan, where his passion for impacting young people began. While successfully completing requirements for a degree in education, developed a career as a successful overseas basketball player, eventually becoming team captain and leading his team to 3 championship wins, including being a 3-time-MVP and second-highest scorer in the Chinese League, out of forty-eight US professional players. During this time, he also obtained endorsement deals with recognized brands such as Nike, Converse, and various sports drinks. His success on and off the court inspired a vision to create pathways for students not only in his community, but around the world. As a coach, teacher, and all-around community leader, Joe’s passion to impact the future of his students is what fuels the mission of C.A.L.I. And his ability to connect and inspire students, and provide leadership and direction for the organization, is what has made C.A.L.I. impact for the past 10 years and the many to come.
